Your online presence: Shhh! It’s not their business

In today’s interconnected world, managing your online presence is more important than ever. Simple actions can make a significant difference in safeguarding your data and privacy on social media and gaming platforms and the internet, which are all increasingly targeted by bad actors.

These bad actors want your personal information to use for their own gain. Whether it’s about your location, habits, background or plans, it’s not their business.

In recognition of “Data Privacy Week and Identity Theft Awareness Week,” which takes place Jan. 27-31, 2025, VA wants to remind you about the importance of protecting your personal information and data with tips from VA cybersecurity and privacy experts and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Veterans can contact their local VA Privacy Officer to file a complaint regarding an alleged privacy violation of your Veteran data, or for general privacy questions or concerns.

Veterans who suspect they have experienced fraud can find resources to file a report to the appropriate agency by visiting www.vsafe.gov or calling 833-38V-SAFE (8-7233).
