Join VA in supporting a National Day of Service, April 23

Volunteering your time and dedication can make a lasting difference in the lives of those who have served our nation. It creates meaningful change, fosters connections and contributes to the well-being of those in need.

Make a pledge to serve during National Volunteer Week April 20-26, 2025, and join VA in supporting a National Day of Service through “VetServe 2025” on April 23, 2025. This special observance highlights the tremendous impact volunteers make in the lives of Veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.

Need ideas of how or where to serve, check out the opportunities below get started:

Volunteer with VA. To start your journey, visit www.volunteer.va.gov to connect with your nearest VA Center for Development and Civic Engagement office.

Volunteer at a VA National Cemetery. Contact a VA National Cemetery to find out what volunteer opportunities may be available.

Become a Volunteer with the American Red Cross by connecting with your local chapter and join a lifesaving blood support team in your community.

Show your support for heroes by organizing a collection drive in your community with Operation Gratitude by helping create “the best care packages” by writing a letter of gratitude sent to our deployed troops; you can also recruit graduates, Veterans, caregivers and first responders.

Host a wear blue: run to remember Honor Event run/walk in your community and honor our nation’s heroes. You can honor a specific fallen hero or share the name and story of a service member who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Assist those recently affected by natural disasters and volunteer with Team Rubicon.
