A special Mann Family Dinner episode supports Veterans

VA and the Ad Council teamed up with entertainer David Mann to host a heartfelt and meaningful conversation on his series, “Mann Family Dinner.” This special episode brings together Veterans and loved ones for an open dialogue about the challenges Veterans can face after military service and the vital role loved ones play in supporting them.

In this episode, Mann welcomes two guests to the table: his aunt Paula and his cousin La’ Charlton, who are both Veterans. They are also joined by Terrence Hayes, deputy assistant secretary for VA’s Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Mann brings warmth and humor to the table as they laugh about family reunions, reminisce about shared experiences and dive into what it means to be there for the ones we love, Veterans or otherwise. They talk about how simple acts of connection, understanding and encouragement can make a difference in the lives of those who’ve served.

The discussion also highlights the resources available through VA, making it clear that no Veteran or their family has to face life’s challenges alone. The discussion reminds all of us that reaching out for support is a courageous and powerful step.

Reminding Veterans they are never alone

“Supporting Veterans starts with understanding their unique challenges and showing them they’re never alone,” said Hayes. “Family, friends and communities play a critical role in that journey and together we can create a stronger foundation of support.”

Veterans and their loved ones can take the first step in overcoming the life challenges they may be facing—like trouble sleeping or financial stress—and receive relevant resources to help alleviate them.

Whether you’re a Veteran, family member or someone who wants to better understand how to support the Veterans in our lives, this episode is a must-watch. It’s a celebration of resilience, the power of storytelling and the importance of coming together to lift one another up.
