I’m 76 and enlisted in the Army for three years on Jan. 6, 1969. When I was young I was pretty active and weight was never an issue. Now that I’m old and not very active I’ve gained weight. Over the years I’ve worked out and done the no carb, high protein diets. They’re great and work, but take a while to activate. From my regular civilian doctors I revived prescriptions for Wegovy and Ozempic. The VA refused to fill either one because I’m not diabetic. The cost thru the VA for these inject able meds is $11 per month vs. $ 200 – $800 from a civilian pharm. To even be considered by the VA you have to enroll in a program called MOVE that lasts four months with a zoom call once a week. Basically, MOVE tells you to curb your food intake and exercise……duh!! Basically it’s just another program to screw vets. I suggested that vets who want to lose weight be weighed on the first of each month and be given the meds. If you don’t lose weight then you’re cut off. Guess that’s too logical. Maybe somebody at the VA will read this and see that it makes sense. I gave my country 3 years and now I want my country to do something for me. And lastly, it would be nice if vets had a dental program. Actually, I think honorably discharged vets should never ever have to pay for health care…NEVER. Cut foreign aid and spend the mony on the men and women for gave for our country. If President Trump knew about this I know in my heart he would do this. GOD BLESS AMERICAN
