(Washington, D.C) — August 7, National Purple Heart Day, is a solemn occasion for us to reflect on the profound sacrifices made by our servicemembers. Today, we recognize and honor the bravery and resilience of those who have been awarded the Purple Heart Medal, a symbol of sacrifice in the face of adversity.
“During the Vietnam War, approximately 350,000 servicemembers were awarded the Purple Heart. Each of these medals represents not just a statistic but a personal story of courage, honor, and the heavy price of freedom. These brave individuals faced unimaginable challenges and put their lives on the line to defend our nation and uphold the values we hold dear,” said Jack McManus, Vietnam Veterans of America National president.
“Vietnam Veterans of America stands united in commemorating these heroes, acknowledging their sacrifices, and ensuring that their contributions are never forgotten,” noted McManus. “We honor those who were wounded and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their legacy lives on in the hearts of their families, friends, and in every corner of this great nation.”
“Let us take this day to express our deepest gratitude to all Purple Heart recipients and their families. Let us remember the courage it takes to serve and the sacrifices that come with it. Together, may we strive to support our veterans and ensure that their stories are shared and celebrated,” said McManus.
On this National Purple Heart Day, let us recommit ourselves to honoring our nation’s heroes, ensuring that their sacrifices are recognized and remembered for generations to come.
