(Washington, D.C.) — “Vietnam Veterans of America commends the House Appropriations Committee for establishing individual Toxic Exposure offices within every Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN). This is a vital step toward improving the delivery of care to those living with the effects of toxic exposure,” said Tom Burke, VVA National President.
“The establishment of Toxic Exposure centers within each VA VISN is long overdue. We applaud Chairman John Carter (TX-R) and Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (FL-D), leaders of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies, for their tireless leadership in moving our initiative forward,” noted Burke.
“Veterans deserve specialized care from professionals who understand the complexities of toxic exposure. Staffing these centers with experts in environmental and toxic exposures is essential to developing the most effective treatment plans and ensuring that toxic exposed servicemembers and veterans receive the highest standard of care,” said Burke.
As the PACT Act implementation continues to drive a historic surge in claims, these specialized offices will ensure the VA has the staffing and clinical expertise necessary to serve those impacted by environmental hazards.
