Avoid these myths (and mistakes) when preparing your VA application

The application process for jobs at VA can sometimes seem complicated, and it doesn’t help that there’s a lot of bad advice out there muddying the waters. That’s why we’re here: to bust some of the most common myths that seem to permeate discussions about applications and help you get on the right track with your own VA application.

What kind of things are we talking about? There are plenty of myths to choose from, and some that might even surprise you. For today, consider the following questions and ask yourself what you would do in these situations:

Should you exaggerate your skills on your resume?

Should you submit a cover letter with your application?

Should you follow up with the recruiter after your interview?

Here’s a hint: you should only have answered “yes” to 2 of the 3 questions above, but there’s more to a successful application than just getting the right answers. Instead, think about why these questions are so prominent in career culture, and how you can avoid the pitfalls associated with these common myths.
